ESES publishes updated guideline on chronic rhinosinusitis

The ESES Rhinology sub-committee has released a revised national guideline on the diagnosis and management of chronic rhinosinusitis, aligned with current evidence and Kenyan practice.

The ESES Rhinology sub-committee has published a revised national guideline on the diagnosis and management of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), replacing the 2019 edition.

The updated guideline reflects current international evidence while remaining grounded in the realities of Kenyan practice — including variable access to CT imaging, topical therapies and endoscopic theatre time.

Key updates

  • A clear, staged medical-therapy pathway before considering surgery
  • Practical nasal-endoscopy and documentation standards for referral
  • Indications for functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS)
  • A one-page primary-care summary for non-specialist clinicians

  • The full guideline and the primary-care summary are available in the member Library. ESES encourages every ENT department to adopt the summary at the front desk.
